Manchester United fans launch #BringRonaldoHome online campaign

A group of die-hard Manchester United fans have launched an online campaign to bring Cristiano Ronaldo back to the club.

UNITED REEL have teamed up with their affliiated official United Supporters Clubs in the Middle East - MUSC UAE, MUSC Lebanon and MUSC Egypt - in an ambitious effort to bring Ronaldo 'home'.

The 29-year-old remains a firm fans favourite at Old Trafford after helping the club win three league titles and the UEFA Champions League during his six-year stay. He also won the World Player of the Year award in 2008.

Ronaldo's future at Real Madrid has been brought into question recently after he criticised the club's decision to sell Angel di Maria and Xabi Alonso during the summer.

While he remains adamant that he is "happy" in the Spanish capital, there are those, former Real president Ramon Calderon included, who believe he could be tempted by a return to United at the end of the season.

And UNITED REEL are determined to make that happen after launching the #BringRonaldoHome website where they are accepting donations from supporters in their bid to woo their former No7 hero back.

Their charm offensive kicks off this weekend with the group already raising enough money to charter a plane over Villarreal's El Madrigal stadium during their La Liga clash against Madrid with a banner that reads "COME HOME RONALDO - UNITED REEL".

With TV audience of millions tuning into the match, UNITED REEL and it's Founder and Coordinator Oli Grandidge are aiming to attract further exposure to their campaign.

"UNITED REEL has active supporters on every continent of the world and we are all united by our love for Cristiano both as a football player and as a person. We stand united in our views and we won’t stop until we BRING RONALDO HOME!," said Grandidge.

Ronaldo hit the headlines again on Tuesday night with four goals in Madrid's 5-1 demolition of Elche which took the forward's goal tally to 264 in just 254 games for the club.
