S Sreesanth to approach BCCI to lift ban after court verdict

Former Cricketer S Sreesanth said he would approach Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to lift the ban imposed on him after he was convicted by a court for spot fixing. A court convicted three cricketers accused of spot fixing in the cash-rich domestic Twenty20 Indian Premier League (IPL) tournament. In 2013, Delhi police arrested the former fast bowler and team mates in the IPL franchise Rajasthan Royals, Ankeet Chavan and Ajit Chandila, on suspicion of spot fixing. BCCI suspended the three cricketers and subsequently launched its own investigation. Sreesanth said he would seek an appointment with BCCI secretary Anurag Thakur, requesting lifting of the ban. The cricketer, who played 27 tests and 53 one-day internationals, spoke about the trauma he went through when he was arrested and put in Delhi's Tihar jail.
