Satnam Singh becomes first Indian to be drafted into NBA

Satnam Singh Bhamara became the first Indian basketball player to be drafted into the National Basketball Association (NBA). Singh, at 7-foot-2-inch, was selected by the Dallas Mavericks for the next season. He was selected as the 52nd pick in the second round. Sports Minister Sarbanand Sonowal congratulated Singh on his feat and said that he would be an inspiration to younger players. The 19-year-old player hails from a remote village in Punjab. Friends and family broke into celebrations as Singh made history at the NBA.
