Officials dismiss reports about Bhatkal's planned jailbreak

Jailed militant Yasin Bhatkal told his wife, during a telephonic conversation, that he would be out of the jail soon "with the help of Damascus', said media reports. However, the reports have been dismissed by the officials at Cherlapalli prison in Hyderabad, where Bhatkal is currently jailed. A Narasimha, Deputy inspector general of prisons, said that Bhatkal was allowed to talk to his relatives as per the court's order using the prison's phone for five minutes daily. Narasimha said that he never suspected any unusual talk in the 27 calls made by the militant to his family since he started availing the facility. He also denied use of any personal phone by Bhatkal to make the call. Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh refused to comment on the matter citing security issues. Bhatkal was arrested from Bihar in 2013 by the National Investigation Agency. He was the key conspirator of blasts at three crowded places across Mumbai on July 13, 2011, killing at least 21 people and injuring 141.
