Nobel Prize-winning writer Gabriel Garcia Marquez dies

Nobel Prize-winning Colombian novelist Gabriel Garcia Marquez has died in Mexico City. He was 87-years-old. The death of the author of “One Hundred Years of Solitude” was reported by Mexican newspapers late on Thursday and confirmed by a spokeswoman for the writer’s family via Twitter. Gabriel Garcia Marquez was recently treated in hospital for a lung infection but it is believed he died at his home with his family by his side.
