Local Newspaper Shares Footage Reportedly Taken Onboard Capsized Ferry

A ferry carrying around 470 passengers, mostly students from a high school in Ansan, capsized off South Korea’s southwest coast early on Wednesday, April 16. The ferry was off the island of Jindo in South Jeolla Province and taking passengers from Danwon High School in Ansan, Gyeonggi Province, on a school trip to Jeju island.

The footage, which was reportedly shot by a student on the boat, was posted to YouTube by Lee Yun-jeung, who is a reporter for Seoul-based newspaper Kyunghyang Shinmun.
