Kurdish Forces Make Gains in Al-Hasakah

Kurdish forces seized large swathes of Syria’s northeastern al-Hasakah province on July 26, according to news and activist reports, one month after Islamic State (IS) militants launched an offensive across the province. According to Syrian watchdog The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, IS have retreated to only one district in al-Hasakah under attacks from both Kurdish fighters as well as regime forces since last June.
