Indian spinner Amit Mishra flays critics of pitches

Indian leg spinner Amit Mishra brushed aside criticism over turning pitches and lamented that due credit was not given to bowlers. South Africa kicked off their longest tour of India by winning the Twenty20 and one-day series before the hosts rolled out turning pitches and unleashed their formidable phalanx of skilful spinners to turn the tables in the test matches. But Mishra defended the pitches saying it was the prerogative of the host country to prepare tailor-made pitches. South African team assistant coach, Adrian Birrell, said his players had no complaints about the pitches and rather praised India for playing better cricket. He further said that the final Test looked like will go for more than three days. South Africa lost all 20 wickets in Nagpur to the Indian tweakers, with off-spinner Ravi chandran Ashwin claiming 12. The Proteas have missed Dale Steyn, nursing a groin injury, after the first test in Mohali and Birrell said the pace bowler will undergo a fitness test on Wednesday (December 02) before a call is made on his participation in the final match. Delhi hosts the fourth and final Test fromDecember 3 at the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium.
