Indian Air Force celebrates its 83rd anniversary in Hindon

The Indian Air Force on Thursday celebrated its 83rd anniversary at Air Force Station Hindon in Ghaziabad. Former Cricketer Sachin Tendulkar, who was present at the occasion, became the first sportsperson to be made an honourary Group Captain in the Indian Air Force. Army Chief General Dalbir Singh and Chief of Naval Staff R K Dhowan were also present at the event. A scintillating air display by various aircraft was the hallmark of the Parade cum Investiture Ceremony here in Ghaziabad. The air display commenced with flag bearing sky divers of famous AKASH GANGA Team dropping out AN-32 aircraft in their colourful canopies. Meanwhile, IAF Chief Arup Raha on the occasion announce that women pilots will soon be inducted into the the fighter stream to meet the aspirations of young women of India. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also greeted the Indian Air Force (IAF) on its 83rd anniversary. "I salute our air force personnel on Air Force Day. They have always served India with great courage and determination. Contribution of our Air Force is monumental. They are always at the forefront, be it in protecting skies or in times of disasters," Prime Minister Modi said in a series of tweets.
