Hindus host Iftar Party for their Muslim brethren during holy month of Ramadan

In the last week of the holy month of Ramadan, there has been a sudden increase in the number of Iftar parties hosted by Hindus for Muslims across India. Recently, an Iftar party, evening meal to break the fast, was organised in Purulia district in West Bengal by local Hindus. The practice is part of an annual affair. More than a thousand Hindus, Muslims and people of other communities attended the event. The fast is usually broken by eating dates and other fruits. The same was served along with other delicacies during the party. The party was organised under KP Singh, MLA of Purulia. He was seen exchanging pleasantries with the people. Irrespective of different religious beliefs, the people enthusiastically practiced the rituals followed by Muslims. Iftar parties in India are also hosted by multi religious organizations which play a significant role in fostering communal harmony and brotherhood among the followers of different faiths
