UAE Maxtalent cricket titles for Our Own boys

Our Own High School (OOHS) Al Warqa’a won the Boys Under-17 title, while Our Own English High School (OOEHS) Sharjah successfully retained their U-13 crown in the seventh edition of the Maxtalent Global Vision Cup.

Our Own Al Warqa’a beat defending champions Indian High School (IHS) Dubai by 13 runs, while Our Own Sharjah etched a narrow seven-run win over DPS Sharjah at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium.

In the U-17 final, OOHS Al Warqa’a owed it to a brilliant innings of 46 not out from Rishi Ramchandani and skipper Anantha Gopakumar (38 in 43 balls) as they reached 119-3 in their 20 overs.

Ramchandani, later adjudged the Maxway Man of the Match, smashed 18 runs in the last over, which included two sixes.

In reply, IHS Dubai could only manage 106-6. Skipper Shaun Kachroo (27), Srijith Sivaraman (19) and Adil Muneer (13) were the main contributors.

In the Boys U-13, it was a recap of last year’s final with OOEHS Sharjah defeating DPS Sharjah. In a low-scoring affair, OOEHS Sharjah were struggling at 45-4 at one stage having lost their star performer Brandon Martis for just 12. Pranav Kumar’s 22 and Neil Lobo’s 13, however, took them to 106-8 in 20 overs.

DPS Sharjah were also struggling at 46-4 at one stage, but Sparsh Hegde (21) single-handedly took the game to the wire. Man of the Match Pranav Kumar shone with the ball as well, picking up four wickets for just 16 runs in his four overs, as OOEHS Sharjah were restricted to 99 runs.

Ramchandani was declared the Player of the Tournament in the U-17 category for scoring 226 runs in four matches, while Martis secured the same honour in the U-13 category for his 259 runs in the tournament.
