Manila, Aug 14 (IANS) Typhoon Utor has killed seven people in the Philippines, officials said Wednesday.
The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said the fatalities were from the northern provinces of Benguet, Nueva Vizcaya, Quezon, Aurora and Isabela and the central province of Cebu.
Authorities are still looking for five missing people. Seven people were injured, Xinhua reported.
Damages incurred in the northern regions was estimated at 932 million pesos (around $21 million).
Typhoon Utor, the strongest storm to hit the country this year, made landfall in Aurora province Monday morning. However, its strength weakened and it left the country in the afternoon.
