Residents in Abu Dhabi have reported 195 accidents during the heavy fog that blanketed the emirate on Tuesday morning, Emirati media reported.
Lt Col Nasser Sulaiman Al Maskari, director of operations at Abu Dhabi Police, urged drivers to remain cautious on the road during turbulent weather hours and pull vehicles on roads’ sides until fog clears.
The National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology said on Tuesday that morning fog cut visibility to 50 just metres in most areas for motorists driving between Dubai and Abu Dhabi, The National reported.
Certain parts of the UAE were covered by heavy fog during early hours of the day since Monday, resulting in a number of flight delays, diversions and cancellations.
“[The cancellation was] to minimise the impact across the rest of network during the day, with all passengers being re-accommodated on other Etihad services where possible,” an Etihad Airways statement said.
