PHOTO: This is what happens when you take 90mph fastball to the face
Houston Astros prospect Delino DeShields Jr suffered a horrific facial injury but is taking it in good spirits.
The 21-year-old Georgia native, who was drafted by Houston in 2010 but mostly features for their feeder teams, was struck on the side of the face during a Double-A match on Friday night.
While he was able to walk off unaided, DeShields - who is the son of namesake and former MLB star Delino Snr - was rushed to hospital for evaluation.
His team-mates then photographed and Tweeted his swollen mush, much to his own mirth:
Shoutout to my brother for taking a 90mph fastball to the face like a champ. Looking good Delilah @LinoDeShields pic.twitter.com/Gy1kGakEKE

The injury was not too serious - a sinus fracture which will keep him out for weeks rather than months - but he won't forget it in a hurry.
