NBA superstar Bryant to hold coaching clinic in UAE

NBA superstar Kobe Bryant announced on Tuesday night that he will be coming to the UAE in September to run a two-day skills camp in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

The five-time NBA champion took to his Facebook page to reveal the upcoming trip.

The LA Lakers star posted: “I’m looking forward to going to Abu Dhabi and Dubai this September for the ‘Kobe Ultimate Fantasy Weekend’ presented by Maven Marketing & Events, in support of diabetes awareness. Details to come soon!”

Bryant will be running skills coaching to basketball players and children from around the UAE, showcasing the ball handling and shooting prowess that have helped make the 34-year-old one of the NBA’s all-time greats.

Sarah Omolewu, Managing Director of Maven Marketing & Events said: “It is an honour to have a living legend like Kobe Bryant come to the UAE to help raise awareness about the importance of health and fitness.

“This will be the biggest basketball event ever held in the region. We look forward to announcing the details of the action-packed weekend to his fans next month.”

Bryant is unlikely to take full part in training sessions due to the torn achilles tendon which ended his season.

Bryant is still one of the NBA’s premier stars, averaging 27.3 points per game during a difficult season that saw the Lakers eliminated in the first round of the playoffs.
