Mumbai gunman Kasab executed: Indian TV

<p>Pakistani lawmakers on Tuesday elected businessman Mamnoon Hussain the 12th president of Pakistan, state PTV reported.</p>

Mohammed Kasab, the sole surviving gunman from the 2008 Mumbai attacks, was hanged on Wednesday in an Indian prison, the NDTV news channel said.

Kasab was executed at 7:30am (0200 GMT) at Yerwada jail in Pune in the western Indian state of Maharashtra after India's President Pranab Mukherjee rejected his mercy plea earlier this month, the channel said.
