Maria Sharapova escapes tennis woes by hitting Mexico beach

Maria Sharapova swapped the tennis courts for Mexico's white sandy beaches recently as she bids to get her game back on track.

The bikini-clad Russian beauty was pictured relaxing on the beaches of Cancun this past week during her mid-season sunshine break.

There was no sign of boyfriend Grigor Dimitrov though, with Sharapova instead enjoying herself with a friend.

The four-time Grand Slam winner has endured a tough start to 2014 after undergoing shoulder surgery last August.

The 26-year-old has yet to win a title this year and lost in the fourth round of the Australian Open - the first Grand Slam of the year. As a result, she has dropped down to No8 in the world rankings.

Sharapova, however, will hope that a spot of rest and relaxation in Mexico will help her rediscover her best form with the French Open and Wimbledon just around the corner in the coming weeks.
