Making the world a safer place for women

To regulate the growing concern over women safety and security across the world, technology plays a significant role.

On the eve of International Women's Day celebrated globally, NTT DATA, the 6th largest global IT services company engaged in developing a solution to address this area for their women employees across India. NTT DATA team has leveraged the mobile phone platform with the mobile phone app titled "i-Save".

i-Save is a mobile application for android phone platform currently. This app will prove to be handy in a distress situation, and is aimed at addressing women safety issues. The users will have to just download and install the app, and further store key SOS contact numbers. It works on the mobile in background.

In a distress situation it will help the users through a very little effort with an automated rescue call and send text messages to their SOS contact list simultaneously. The alert message will be sent automatically every two minutes with an appeal to help, along with the current location of the mobile user. As a value add to this app even the voice conversation at the distress site will get recorded, which can be later used as an evidence.

This app was officially inaugurated as part of the Women's day celebration across all India locations of NTT DATA. The celebration honoured and appreciated the achievements of women at NTT DATA through Women's Initiative @ NTT DATA (WIN).

WIN was launched to make NTT DATA an "Employer of Choice" for women workforce and to retain women talent in the organization. It tries to leverage women's potential to enhance their career, and at the same time educate women on subjects like health, finance, work life balance, self-defence etc. The WIN team was engaged in month long activities to mark this day, with health awareness workshops to career development sessions, and launch of crèche tie-ups for the employees.
