Khaled Al Qubaisi's Abu Dhabi-Proton Racing team conduct pre-FIA World Endurance Championship tests

Abu Dhabi-Proton Racing team were one of several teams conducting tests on Germany’s famous Nurburgring circuit earlier this week ahead of the FIA World Endurance Championship next month.

The three-man team, led by Emirati driver Khaled Al Qubaisi, are preparing for the WEC’s debut at the F1 track on August 30.

Abu Dhabi-based Al Qubaisi was joined by team-mates, Klaus Bachler, of Austria, and German Christian Ried, in the Porsche 911 RSR on Monday and Tuesday.

Al Qubaisi said: “It was a good test for our team, we had rain the first day and dry conditions the second day where we were the fastest in class.

“My pace was very good, especially in the wet conditions, where I was able to post one of the fastest times. At Nurburgring there is no room for even the smallest of mistakes.

“It was good to be back in the car after a long break since Le Mans.”
