Join the world's latest craze with Zane's SUP clinics
As a continued effort to grow the profile of Surfing and SUP (Stand Up Paddleboarding) in the Middle East, Surf Shop Arabia is hosting an innovative SUP Clinic with one of the world’s top stand-up riders, Zane Schweitzer.
The two-hour clinics take place at Wadi Adventure Park in Al Ain and Ignite Surf School UAE operating from Riva Beach Club on the Palm Jumeirah from Thursday to Saturday.
The clinics, which focus on flatwater and wave riding, provide the opportunity for any level of paddler from beginner to advanced to learn and get technical advice and experience from Schweitzer. And you will certainly be learning from the best.
Winner of the 2013 Abu Dhabi All Stars, Schweitzer, finished third in this year’s competition last week, which attracted more than 40 international athletes.
He has been involved in surfing, windsurfing and SUP, and has definitely inherited his father's talent. Matt Schweitzer was an 18-time windsurfing world champion.
“I’m very excited to be partici-pating in this initiative from Surf Shop Arabia,” said the younger Schweitzer. “It’s a great opportunity to show paddlers in the Emirates who participate in the sport, whether for competitive or recreational purposes, specific techniques, tips and tricks to improve both their wave and flat water paddling and of course to meet the local paddlers.
“The sport is growing worldwide, and is currently the fastest growing water sport on the planet. It’s very encouraging to be a part of something so innovative and unique for this region.”
Carl de Villiers, owner of Surf Shop Arabia and organiser of the clinics, is encouraging the public not to miss on this opportunity of learning the sport that is growing fast in the UAE.
“This is a great opportunity for local residents of the UAE and the Gulf to attend a technical clinic hosted by an athlete of Zane’s level. It’s not often that people have the chance to better their skills and learn from the world champions themselves, so this clinic is all about developing those skills, learning new techniques and most of all, promoting the sport of SUP in this region.”
The clinic fees vary from Dh425 to Dh575, which includes transport to and from the venue as well as personalised and signed merchandise from Schweitzer.
