“We successfully utilised the post-up play of Johny,” DPS Sharjah coach T. Ai told Sport3600.

“Our defence was more organised than our previous game and we had a good run in the second period where we grabbed the lead and increased it in the next two quarters.”

DPS Sharjah were down by one point after the first 10 minutes but they grabbed the driver’s seat in the second period and went up by three, 15-12, at the half.

They forced NIMS Rising Stars to commit several turnovers in the third period and increased their lead to double digits, 27-16, going into the final quarter.

Chan registered game-high 20 points and had six steals and grabbed one rebound.

“He (Chan) has a very good game awareness. He can definitely score and he can rotate the ball properly to set-up his team mates for offence,” NFPS Patriots coach Aris Peralta praised his star player.

NFPS Patriots went full throttle from the get go establishing a 13-2 lead in the first quarter and they rendered VISS scoreless in the second period as they increased their margin to a commanding 25-2 cushion at the half.

They slowed down in the third quarter which helped VISS to cut down the deficit by 16, 30-14, but they finished strong in the fourth quarter to register a 27-point victory.

Scott Charlesworth, Australian coach of VISS, said: “they (NFPS) got some quality players and genuine shooters. We committed fundamental errors but we have seen promising signs offensively which I hope we can improve in our next games.”
