Indian student hits Dubai jackpot

Madhup Roshan (C), an Indian student residing in Dubai, walks away with two luxurious Infiniti models, the JX35 and G25, and a cash prize of Dh100,000 during the DSF daily raffle draw.

A 10-year-old boy is the lucky winner of two cars and AED 100,000 ($27,224)at the Dubai Shopping Festival's (DSF) Infiniti Mega Raffle.

Madhup Roshan, an Indian student residing in Dubai won after his father, Puna Chandra Rao, bought the AED 200 ($54.44) raffle ticket for him on January 3 - the first day of the DSF, local daily Gulf News reported on Tuesday.

He won Infiniti models JX 35 and G25.

“I had a feeling that I was going to win it that day. When I got a call asking for my son, I knew the big moment had arrived,” local website Emirates 24/7 quoted Chandra Rao, who plans to use the money for his son’s future education and to help needy students in India, as saying.

Meanwhile, Pakistani Shahed Ahmad won the Nissan Grand Raffle draw on January 6, which gives  him the opportunity to choose one of 12 Nissan models as his prize.

In the Gold Mega Raffle, Sri Lankan M J M Zahran became the first winner of the weekly kilo of gold offered by Dubai Gold and Jewellery Group, as part of the festival.

The annual shopping extravaganza, now in its 18th year, runs until February 3.
