Girl (2) sets record for archery in India

Before her third birthday, Dolly Shivani Cherukuri from the southern state of Andhra Pradesh, India set a new national record in archery, according to the India Book of Records.

The two-year old has been trained since birth to follow in the footsteps of her late brother, international archer and coach Cherukuri Lenin who died in a road accident in 2010.

On Tuesday, Dolly became the youngest Indian to score more than 200 points at a trial event.

Her father, Cherukuri Satyanarayana, said she had been groomed to be a champion.

“My daughter achieved the feat we have been dreaming… I can’t express in words how happy my family is,” he said.

Next stop for the young athlete is the Guinness Book of Records.
