Two Emirates Airline employees are facing charges of embezzling thousands of Dirhams through the unauthorised sale of air tickets, UAE daily newspaper The National reported on Wednesday.

The two, identified as SA and AD, are charged with exploiting Emirates’ policy of granting its employees 50% discounts on ticket prices.

They bought discounted tickets and sold them to strangers at full price, the report added.

SA was charged with forgery and embezzling AED 5,720 ($1,557) from reselling five tickets, while AD is facing the same charge for embezzling AED 7,968 from reselling eight tickets.

The pair are scheduled to appear at the court on October 7.
