Dubai, Abu Dhabi among least expensive cities

Dubai and Abu Dhabi have been named as two of the cheapest cities in the world to live in. The revelations came from a new study, the 2012 Cost of Living survey, which is published twice a year by Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU).

It is thought that falling rents, low inflation and a strong US dollar have pushed the two UAE cities to the top of the list.

Dubai fell from 78th place on the 140 strong list of metropolitan cities, to 94 this year. Abu Dhabi fell from 86 to 91, suggesting that the capital is now a more expensive place to live than Dubai.

Karachi in Pakistan and India’s Mumbai took first and second place respectively, with Zurich in Switzerland being named as the most expensive city to live in.
