Donald Trump and Univision Settle $500 Million Miss Universe Lawsuit

Donald Trump capped off his New Hampshire primary win by reaching a settlement with Univision over his $500 lawsuit, the network and politician announced Thursday.

The terms of the settlement were not disclosed.

"I have known Univision's President and CEO, Randy Falco, for more than 20 years and I'm glad we are able to put these differences behind us," Trump, 69, said in a statement.



Falco echoed the sentiment: "I have known Donald Trump for many years in both a personal and professional capacity and we are pleased to settle this matter and move forward."

The battle began in June, when Univision decided not to air the Miss Universe and Miss USA pageants – which Trump then owned – following the presidential hopeful's inflammatory comments about Mexican immigrants, who he claimed are "rapists" who are "bringing drugs" and "bringing crime" to the United States during a stump speech.

"This is part of the campaign," he told PEOPLE after suing Univision in July. "It shows that we don't back down, it shows that I protect the border and it shows that we don't want [undocumented immigrants] coming into the country."

The beauty pageant made headlines for a controversy even without Trump at the helm: Host Steve Harvey flubbed reading the Miss Universe winner's name, crowning Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutiérrez instead of Miss Philippines Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach.
