And a photo of the batsman dubbed 'Instagram Playboy' unintentionally duped fans after the Windies' victory when the shot of himself alongside some scantily clad females in a hot tub started circulating on Twitter.

However, Twitter was left disappointed after it was revealed that the photo is several months old and wasn't posted "two days" before his record-breaking World Cup score as some were led to believe.

In fact the photo had been taken some months before - which just goes to show how quickly false information can spread across Twitter. Clearly people really wanted to believe that this had been Gayle's preparation for his stunning knock.

Gayle's lifestyle is regularly documented on his Instagram account where expensive cars, breathtaking views and beautiful women feature throughout.
