Snoop Lion sports Dubai-based designer's creations in new video

Snoop Lion sporting Hatem Al Akeel's creation in his music video

Snoop Lion (formerly known as Snoop Dogg) has taken his love for the Mideast a step further.

In the latest music video for "Here comes the king," the American rapper is seen wearing not one but three outfits created by Dubai-based Saudi designer Hatem Al Akeel.

And expectedly, the designer, famous for his creative contemporary reincarnations of the traditional white dishdasha (kandoura), is beside himself with joy.

"I was not aware of this video having used three of my creations. It feels fabulous that my designs have now got a new western hip-hopedge," Al Akeel told Yahoo! Maktoob, "Snoop Lion sported one of my black tuxedo thobes at his New Year’s Eve stage performance lastyear at Meydan, Dubai. The latest video is quite complimentary to my brand."

In the music video, the singer sports two thobes and one shirt created by Akeel - a black and navy blue thobe, a beige linen one and a black embroidered shirt. When asked which outfit Snoop Lion sports the best, Akeel quips: "That's like asking a mother which of hischildren she likes the most, but I think he looks very regal in the beige linen one. Snoop Lion has the ideal complexion and a greatheight to wear this outfit and give a very regal flare to it."

Al Akeel's brand, Toby — which means ‘My dishdasha' in Arabic — is gaining recognition for merging traditional Middle Eastern wear withcontemporary Western designs. Snoop Lion's video has lended the brand "a new pedigree", adds Al Akeel.

"Here comes the king" released in December last year and the video was posted on YouTube last week.
