Restaurant serves 3,000+ calories on one plate

A new report has named a pasta dish served at restaurant chain The Cheesecake Factory, which has outlets in the UAE, as one of unhealthiest dishes served by US chain restaurants.

According to this year’s Xtreme Eating list, the Bistro Shrimp Pasta boasts a staggering 3,120 calories - that’s a massive 50% more than the recommended daily intake for a man. However, the iPhone app My Fitness Pal puts the count at nearly 1,000 less, claiming it contains 2,285 calories.

The dish, which costs AED 90 ($24.50) and contains 89g of saturated fat and 1,090 milligrams of sodium, is one of the dishes recommended to customers according to UAE daily 7Days.

Such a record is likely to cause concern among health experts, as the UAE has one of the highest rates of obesity and Type II diabetes in the world.
