Find out the speed limit of every road in Dubai

Speeding fines are easily avoidable in Dubai.

According to the latest figures from Dubai traffic officials, motorists committed 1.19 million speeding violations across the emirates' roads in 2013, which accounted for 67% of the total traffic offences.

In an effort to reduce speeding, Dubai Police have installed several cameras across the emirate (with at least a 100 more added in 2013). Speed limits are clearly indicated on road signs and vary across the emirate, with limits ranging from 100-120 km/h on major highways and 40-80 km/h in urban and residential areas.

It is quite easy to avoid getting fines by sticking to the speed limits and knowing the leeway.

HOW TO CHECK YOUR FINES

You can easily check any traffic fines you have received in the UAE on the Dubai Police website.

All you need to do is input your license plate and registration number and a list of all outstanding fines will appear. It takes a few days for the record to be updated, so if you suspect you might have received a fine, check online a few days later.

Alternatively, you can also subscribe to receive SMS updates online as well.

So, the next time you're driving down a road, remember the speed and grace limit and avoid that dreaded camera flash.
