A British expat plunged right onto a parked Ford Focus on falling out of an open window at his Dubai office while chasing a parrot, daily newspaper 7DAYS reported.

The 29-year-old was fined AED2000 ($544) by the Dubai Court of Misdemeanours.

On falling from the first floor of the office building in Al Quoz Industrial area, the expat broke his hand and was immediately hospitalised.

In his defence, the Brit claimed that the window smashed under his weight when he leaned a little to catch the bird. “I saw the bird flying around inside the office and I tried to catch him,” he reportedly said.

“I leaned on the window and was surprised when the glass broke and lost balance and fell. I landed on a car which was parked under the building,” he added, while stating that the glass in the window was made of poor material.

The owner of the Ford Focus, a 28-year-old Indian man was informed of the damage the following day by the police. “Police informed me that the defendant fell on it and damaged the front of the car. The vehicle was rented,” the Indian said in official records.
