Good news for Apple fans - the tech giant has officially launched iTunes Gift Cards in the UAE.

The cards will be sold at three major retailers - Carrefour, Sharaf DG and iStyle - and will allow customers to purchase apps, music, movies and more from the iTunes store. This was previously only possible via a credit card.

The gift cards, which have been unofficially available in the UAE for some time now, will likely be a popular way to purchase items on the store and to give as presents to family and friends.

The cards work like gift certificates and are available in three options - AED 100, 250 and 500, providing prepaid credit that can be redeemed on apps, games, music or films only at the UAE iTunes store.

They are expected to be popular amongst parents who would like to monitor their children's purchases on the store. They can also set up an allowance of store credit to be redeemed monthly.

HOW IT WORKS:

Cards can be purchased from the official retailers and then redeemed using a computer, Mac, iPad, iPhone or iPod touch. Users can also redeem them by taking a photo of the PIN code using the camera on your Mac or an iOS device. To Redeem:

- Open iTunes Store
- Scroll to bottom and click or tap Redeem
- Peel off label and enter the code
