Art Alert: Ahmed Haddad celebrates ten years of poetry and musical evenings

Poet Ahmed Haddad

On Sunday 2 February, young Egyptian poet Ahmed Haddad will hold his latest poetry and musical performance Sallemli (Send My Greetings) in the Al-Hekma hall at the El-Sawy Culturewheel.

The performance marks Haddad's tenth anniversary since he first took to the stage at the same venue with his poetry and musical evening Mantahas (It did not end).

Sallemli is a collection of Haddad's famous lyrics and poems that takes one on a smooth nostalgic stroll down memory lane.

Haddad has published five books of poetry and was awarded the Best Book Award in 2012 for his colloquial poetry collection Beshweish (Slow down) at the Cairo International Book Fair.

Accompanying Haddad on stage will be vocalists Fatemah Adel and Dalia El-Gindy along with Islam Abdel-Aziz on oud, Youssef El-Sheriay on piano and Farid Gad on percussion. Music is composed by Sherif El-Wessimy, Yehia Ghanam, Mohamed Ezzat and Shady Moones.

Programme: Sunday 2 February at 7:30pm El-Hekma Hall, El-Sawy Culturewheel, Zamalek, Cairo
