Ahly coach Fathi Mabrouk has praised his injury-ravaged squad after they secured a 1-1 draw with Sewe Sport in the Confederation Cup group stage.

The Cairo giants took the lead when Burkina Faso international Moussa Yedan struck late in the first half. But Akrofi snatched the equaliser for Sewe with just 12 minutes remaining.

"We came to Abidjan to win. We used attacking tactics in an attempt to secure all three points," Mabrouk said at the post-game press conference.

"I thank the players for their performance... The away draw is not a negative result as were missing key players."

Ahly were without the services of Rami Rabia, Sayed Moawad, Emad Meteb, Mohamed Nagy 'Gedo', Sherif Abdel-Fadil, Walid Soliman and Abdallah El-Said.

"I appreciate Sewe Sport team. They have talented players that can make a difference."

Ahly continued their unbeaten run in the Confederation Cup group stage to remain top of Group B, level on five points with Etiole Sahel of Tunisia, who have an inferior goal difference.
