With both sides having been among the pre-tournament favourites, there is little surprise that either side have made this late stage of the competition. Now it is up to both sides to make their case for a place in the weekend's final.
New Zealand have a terrific record of reaching World Cup semi-finals, having reached the stage in seven of 11 tournament appearances. The Kiwis, though, have never made the final.
