A man posed as a policeman and tried to rape a woman, a court in Abu Dhabi was told.
The criminal court heard Sunday that the Arab woman left a restaurant on Corniche Road and the Emirati defendant allegedly followed her to her vehicle.
When the woman reached the car, it is alleged the man told her he was a policeman. She said he then forced his way into her car, assaulted her and tried to tear off his clothes.
“I tried to run away. I fell on the ground near my car. He held me down and tried to rape me,” the woman said. She said the man only let her go when a passing vehicle stopped nearby.The defendant denies charges of attempted rape and assault.
The case has been adjourned.
