Workers in the UAE will get the day off on Sunday, June 17, to mark Isra Wal Meraj, UAE daily newspaper Gulf News reported on Tuesday.
The day off, which will mean a long weekend for most, extends to workers in the seven emirates from both the public and private sectors.
But it’s bad news for students, as the Ministry of Education has announced that exams scheduled for that day will still take place, the report added.
Isra Wal Meraj is an Islamic holiday which marks the physical and spiritual journey the Prophet Muhammed is said to have taken to the heavens.
