The insane goalscoring stats that show just how remarkable Cristiano Ronaldo is

Is there any stopping Cristiano Ronaldo right now? His four-goal show in Real Madrid's 5-1 demolition of Elche on Tuesday night means he has now scored seven goals in his last two games.

Even more remarkable is that the Portuguese superstar now boasts 12 goals in just eight games this season - taking his overall tally for Madrid to 264 in just 254 games, at an average of 1.04 goals per game.

Delve a little deeper and Ronaldo's goalscoring exploits become even more remarkable.

The reigning World Player of the Year only joined Madrid in 2009, but he is already the club's joint third highest scorer in La Liga history.

To put that achievement into perspective, while it has taken the Portuguese just over five seasons and 169 games over to reach 186 goals, it took the man he shares third spot with - Carlos Santillana - 461 games and over 17 years.

The two men ahead of Ronaldo on the list - Alfredo Di Stefano and Raul - took 282 and 550 games respectively to achieve their own impressive feats. Di Stefano spent 11 years at the club, while Raul played at the Bernabeu for 16.

If Ronaldo continues to score goals at his current rate (1.04 per game) then he will need just 41 more matches to draw level with Raul's record. And all within six seasons.

The mind-boggling stats don't end there either:

Neither do the records...

It has been a year of milestones for the former Manchester United man after he helped Madrid claim La Decima - their 10th European Cup triumph.

But perhaps the most incredible statistic about Ronaldo’s career so far was achieved back in February in his side's match with city rivals Atletico.

It is surely now only a matter of 'when' not 'if' the remarkable Ronaldo goes onto eclipse Raul's all-time goalscoring record for Los Blancos (323 goals in 741 games).

Just 59 goals shy, you can be sure more records will tumble along the way.
