A man who was arrested on suspicion of killing a Filipina businesswoman and leaving her dead body in a vehicle in Sharjah has confessed to the crime, UAE daily newspaper The National reported on Monday.
Lorna Lim Varona, 51, was found dead in the boot of an abandoned Jaguar in the Sharjah Industrial Area 11 on Saturday, one week after her disappearance from home.
The suspect, also from Philippines and in his mid-fifties, was arrested by Sharjah police one day later, the report added.
According to the victim’s husband, the murderer was a close friend of the family.
“We've known him [the murderer] for 20 years. It would not have happened to Lorna had she not been so soft-hearted. That man owes her a lot of money,” Mr. Varona was quoted as saying by The National.
