Bayern Munich returning to Qatar for winter training camp

Reigning European champions Bayern Munich will return to Qatar in January for a 10 day training camp.

The German giants enjoyed a similar stint at Doha's Aspire Academy earlier this year during the Bundesliga's winter break.

And they enjoyed their time so much in the Gulf country that they are to return in 2014 from January 5-14.

Bayern's visit is part of a link-up between Qatari sports empire Aspire Katara Investment (AKI) and Infront Sports and Media, the leadingSwiss-based sports marketing company.

Their joint venture, AspireInfront, are behind Bayern's second trip to the region in 12 months with friendly games against as yet unnamed opponents expected.

In their first visit to Qatar, Bayern played two ties - beating fellow Bundesliga side Schalke 5-0 and registering a 2-1 win over Egyptian giants Al Ahly.

Bayern boss Pep Guardiola and star man Franck Ribery are already due to visit the region later this month with both the star guest speakers at the annual Globe Soccer Conference in Dubai.

The duo will be joined by Argentine legend Diego Maradona, an ambassador for Dubai, and Russia national team boss Fabio Capello for the two-day conference on December 28-29.
