Temperatures in Saudi Arabia could hit an excruciating 70° Celcius
over the next two months, Saudi Arabic daily Al Watan reported.
According to Saudi astronomer Dr. Khalid Al Zaaq from the
Arab Federation for Space Science, this summer is expected to be exceedingly
hot in the Kingdom over the next 60 days, with temperatures reaching 70° C
under direct sunlight and 50° C in the shade.
Temperature can reach 70° C in open and desert areas as well
as mountainous terrain, according to the report.
Al Zaaq also said that this coming Friday, June 22, will be
the longest day in the year in Saudi Arabia.
Average summer temperatures in Saudi Arabia can typically reach 45° C with highs of 54° C.
