Saudi Maaden shuts ammonia plant for two weeks of repairs

DUBAI, April 2 (Reuters) - Maaden Phosphate Company (MPC) shut its ammonia plant at Ras Al Khair on Monday for unscheduled repairs which are expected to take about two weeks, Saudi Arabian Mining Company (Maaden) said on Tuesday. Maaden said in a statement to the Saudi stock market that the shutdown for "technical repairs" would have no impact on its ability to meet supply obligations to customers. The plant produces ammonia used to make Diammonium Phosphate (DAP) at the complex, but the DAP plant will continue to produce normally using ammonia stocks, it said. MPC is co-owned by Maaden (70 percent) and Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (30 percent). (Reporting by Daniel Fineren; Editing by Mark Potter)
