DUBAI, Nov 27 (Reuters) - Saudi Arabian Mining Company
(Maaden) expects a setback in the start up of a new power plant
at Ras Al Khair to delay full production capacity being reached
at its new aluminum smelter nearby, the company said on Tuesday.
Reuters reported earlier that the start up of the power
plant had been delayed by 10 months, threatening supplies to the
smelter due to start up next month.
"The (power) project halt may cause shortage in the supply
of electricity required by the Maaden Aluminum Company (MAC) at
Ras Al Khair," the company said in a stock market statement.
"The impact on the project will lead to a slowdown in
scheduled ramp up to reach the designed capacity of the aluminum
smelter."
