Saudi king says world confidence in UN 'shaken'

Saudi King Abdullah said on Friday that world confidence in the United Nations had been shaken after the world body failed to adopt a resolution against the Syrian regime's deadly crackdown on protests.

"We all used to take pride in the United Nations which used to bring us together and not divide us... but what took place does not augur well as world confidence in the United Nations has undoubtedly been shaken," King Abdullah said in a short televised speech.

"We are going through scary days and unfortunately what happened at the United Nations is absolutely regrettable," the Saudi king said.

King Abdullah was alluding to the blocking by Russia and China last Saturday of a UN Security Council resolution condemning the crackdown by President Bashar al-Assad's regime.

"No matter how powerful, countries cannot rule the whole world," he said. "The world is ruled by brains, by justice, by morals and by fairness."

On Tuesday, the six Gulf states decided to expel Syrian envoys and withdraw their own over the "mass slaughter" of civilians.

Regional kingpin Saudi Arabia called on Monday for "critical measures" to be taken on Syria, warning of an impending "humanitarian disaster".

Human rights groups estimate that more than 6,000 people have died in Syria since protests erupted in March last year.

Why blame UN when Russia is calling the shots, Russia don't care about the innocent people dying in Syria. All they care is what the corrupt government can give them. And when they're talking the UN for people who don't know, its not the US. The UN stand for United Nations( its an organization with memeber from over 193 head of states around the world).

King Abdullah has no ight to comment because he is doing the same thing in Bahrain, Afghanistan, Egypt, Libya and several poor countries, exporting their wahabism and using petro dollar to snatch away place of worships and prayer halls of other muslim sect and killing them mercilessly. Shame on them. Look in your own trouser before looking at others and then talk. They are all hypocrates their tounge speaks something and they have something else in their hearts. Only fools trust fools and pray for them. You help tyrant and you are a tyrant. You will be answerable to Allah (swt) on the day of judgement. So keep your mouth shut. Always help opperessed and not the oppresser what ever faith he/she belongs to.This is a command of Allah (swt)

Actually syria is an oil producer it produces 380.000 barrel per day, but the baathists and bashaar are good loyal dogs to israel, thats why the US is not taking desicive measures and making the russian black sheep accept it.

There is no doubt that the world in the coming days will see a split in the international organization after the failure of the decision of the Security Council in passing a resolution against the tyranny that is implemented by the Syrian regime against the sons of his people the effects of the two positions where the Russian and Chinese disapproval of the free world.
