Union Finance Minister P. Chidambaram today said that the direct cash transfer scheme would be rolled out in only 20 districts from January 01, 2013. Chidambaram also added that food, fertiliser, diesel and kerosene subsidy will not be transferred in cash to beneficiaries. A total of 26 schemes are to be covered under the direct cash transfer system. The system will be rolled out in various schemes according to the due date of payment. He further said that the ministry is confident that the schemes would be successfully launched. less
