Nicki Minaj To Open MTV VMAs, Justin Bieber Also Set To Perform

Not only will this year’s MTV VMAs be packed full of awards, crazy red carpet outfits and Miley Cyrus’ unpredictable hosting, but it’ll also have more incredible performances than a jamboree - starting with an amazing show opener from Nicki Minaj.

Yep, despite criticising MTV for their nominations, the 32-year-old will be the first act on Sunday’s stage, and something tell us it will be out of this world.

We mean, you only have to look at her performance of ‘Anaconda’ from last year to see that Nicki does NOT play around when it comes to putting on a killer show.

It will be the third time she’s performed at the awards ceremony, although details of exactly what we can expect are being kept firmly under lock and key.

However, judging by the shows she’s been putting on as part of her sold-out US ‘Pinkprint Tour’, we reckon we’re in for more of a treat than a strawberry ice cream sundae with sprinkles.

Justin Bieber, 21, has also been announced as a performer for the night, and will take to the stage for a rendition of his (awesome) new song ‘What Do You Mean?’

Again, details of what exactly Biebs will bring to the stage are being kept as secret as our nan’s homemade Victoria sponge recipe, but we reckon it’ll be pretty fab.

Not only will he be performing, but he might even walk away with a moonmen or two, with the video for ‘Where Are U Now?’, his track with Skrillex and Diplo, nominated for four awards.

It’s up for gongs in the Best Art Direction, Best Visual Effects, Best Editing, and Song Of The Summer categories.

If that’s not enough to float your boat, an eclectic mix of other musical stars will serenade the audience throughout the night, with Pharrell Williams, Demi Lovato, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, A$AP Rocky, Twenty One Pilots and Tori Kelly all on the bill.

Bring on the show!
