Munch Bakery and Peeran Warriors recorded contrasting wins over Old Students and Peeran XI by 9 wickets and 12 runs respectively, in the first week match matches of the Ace Travel Afternoon League, organized by the Jeddah Cricket Association. This league consists of 7 teams, which will be played on a double-leg basis with the top four qualifying for the semifinals.
Munch Bakery, comprised of youngsters known for their discipline and fighting spirit, outclassed Old Students by 9 wickets. Old students lost wickets at regular intervals and were bundled out for 93 runs. It was only Junaid who stood among the ruins and scored a stubborn 32.
For Munch Bakery, Rana Shahzad claimed 3 wickets for 16 runs. Umar and Waleed bagged 2 wickets each for 15 and 7 runs respectively.
In reply Munch Bakery made light work of their target and scored 94 runs off 8 overs with Nabeel Chaudhary scoring an elegant unbeaten 62 runs. He was well supported by Zain Al Salikeen 15 and an unbeaten 17 by Nabeel.
In another match, Peeran Warriors inflicted a narrow 12-run win over Peeran XI. Peeran Warriors put on board 187 for 4 wickets in their allotted overs. Thanks to Moin (46) and Asim (64) who put on 110 runs for the first wicket.
Majid (20) and Shakeel (22) were the other run getters. Zaheer claimed 2 for 15. Asim and Waleed took a wicket each for 20 and 25 runs respectively. In reply Peeran XI managed 175 for 6 wickets. Fahad staged a lone battle with a superb knock of 103 runs. However, did not get the required support from his teammates. Only Abdul Basith stayed with him for a while and scored 18 runs.
