Matt Damon has spoken out for the first time about rumours that himself and good friend Ben Affleck were once gay lovers.
In a candid interview with Playboy magazine, Matt made his feelings clear about the rumours and explained why he's never spoken about them before.
The actor explained, "I never denied those rumours because I didn't want to offend my friends who were gay – as if being gay were some kind of disease.
"It put me in a weird position in that sense. The whole thing was just gross."
Matt has just finished work on a Steven Soderbergh directed TV flick in which he plays Liberace's young lover Scott Thorson.
In Behind The Candelabra, Matt stars alongside Michael Douglas, who plays as the flamboyant pianist, and the pair are seen getting intimate in several scenes.
Matt said, "We both have a lot of gay friends and we were not going to screw this up or bulls*** it.
"It wasn't the most natural thing in the world to do, though. Like, for one scene, I had to come out of a pool, go over to Michael, straddle him on a chaise longue and start kissing him.
"And throughout the script, it's not like I kiss him just once. We drew it up like a football plan."
