A man has appeared in court accused of assaulting his former employer and stealing AED 600,000 ($163,358) from him with the help of a second man in Dubai, UAE daily newspaper The National reported.
The Iranian’s 48-year-old employer from Abu Dhabi told prosecutors he received a call from his former employee last April, telling him he was leaving the country and wanted to catch up in Dubai before his departure.
“I told him I was coming to Dubai in the next few days and would call him so that we could meet,” the employer, identified as OS, was quoted as saying by The National.
The pair agreed to meet at a Dubai hotel few days later, the report added.
The worker, assisted by another Iranian student, then attacked the Emirati employer in his room and forcibly took naked pictures of him, threatening to make them public if he didn’t pay them.
According to The National, the pair continued to hold the man for a further eight hours until they made sure he approved the bank’s procedure to cash the cheque he had given them.
Police said that both attackers had naked photos of the man on their mobile phones when they were arrested, the reported added.
They face various charges including holding a person against his will under threat of violence, sexual assault, threatening to kill and scandalise and robbery, the report added.
