Hyderabad Green did not have to break into a sweat to bag their maiden Ace Travel Cup Summer Cup League title when they scored a comfortable eight-wicket win over Jawar Al Jazirah, in the Ace Travel and Tours-sponsored tournament and organized by the Jeddah Cricket Association.
Hyderabad Green’s Ahmed Rayees was the hero of the day as he scored a match winning 81, which was ably supported by Waseem’s unbeaten 56. Both were involved in 125-run stand for the second wicket in a score of 210 for 2 off 25 overs.
Earlier, Rayees and Tahir (43) gave a solid 71-run opening stand for the Hyderabad outfit.
Rayees was dismissed at 196, just 10 runs short of the target. Earlier batting first, Jawar Al Jazira were restricted to 206 runs for 9 wickets off their allotted overs. Shan Malik top-scored with 51 runs followed by Adil, who scored a patient 46. Shahzad (23) and Kamran (21) were the other contributors. Islam (2 for 50) and Adil (2 for 39) did most of the damage while Khalid, Quddus, Abdullah and Rayees chipped in with a wicket each.
In the Consolation Cup, Al Khulais routed Butt Sports by 157 runs. Batting first, Al Khulais scored 245 for 9. Notable contributions came from Aslam (54), Akmal (41), Javed (34), Khalil (33) and Zahoor (41 n.o.). In reply, Butt Sports were bundled out for 97 runs. Usman and Tanvir took 3 and 2 wickets respectively.
After the prize distribution ceremony, JCA President Mohammed Iqbal thanked Ace Travel and Tours management for their support in sponsoring all the three three leagues for the 3rd consecutive year.
